A key Tennessee Vols player announced on Monday evening that he's returning to Rocky Top in 2024.
Vols offensive lineman Gerald Mincey, a Florida transfer who joined Tennessee ahead of the 2022 season, tweeted about a new NIL deal for the 2024 season, indicating that he'll be back for his redshirt senior season.
Mincey played in all 12 game for the Vols this season while making six starts (all at right tackle).
The Florida native dealt with injuries near the end of the season, which limited his time on the field.
Mincey's return erases a huge question mark at the tackle position for the Vols. Tennessee now knows that Mincey will be the starting right tackle in 2024 and Miami transfer John Campbell will be the starting left tackle.
Tennessee is still awaiting decisions from center Cooper Mays and right guard Javontez Spraggins (both players have another year of eligibility and both are trending toward returning). Even if Mays and Spraggins return, the Vols will still have a question mark at left guard.
