One of the Tennessee Vols' top remaining 2024 recruiting targets set his commitment date this week.

2024 four-star linebacker Chris Cole announced this week that he plans to commit on September 10 at 6:00 PM ET.

Cole, 6-foot-3/210 lbs from Salem, VA, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 6 linebacker in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Virginia. He's also rated as the No. 56 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.

The talented linebacker will be choosing between USC, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Miami, and Penn State.

Cole is scheduled to take an official visit to Tennessee this weekend for the Vols' home-opener against Austin Peay.

Getting the last visit is usually a huge advantage. And it certainly could be for Tennessee in the battle for Cole. But for now, the feeling is that USC will land the four-star recruit.

"Of my top six schools, I feel like I have a full picture of every single one and I feel like I will be able to make a decision now," said Cole to 247Sports this week.

That comment seems to indicate that Cole has pretty much made up his mind. But the visit to Tennessee, as long as it happens as expected, could change that decision.

Regardless of where Cole commits on Sunday, the battle to land the talented linebacker won't be over until December when the early signing period gets underway.

Tennessee currently has the No. 7 recruiting class in the nation.
