A key Tennessee Vols recruiting target has announced his planned commitment date.
2024 four-star athlete Boo Carter will be announcing his commitment later this month.
Carter tweeted on Friday evening that he plans to commit on June 17 at a commitment party in New York City.
Carter, 5-foot-10/184 lbs from Chattanooga, TN, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 20 athlete in the nation and the No. 3 player in the state of Tennessee.
The talented recruit told 247Sports this week that he enjoyed his most recent visit to Tennessee. Carter pointed out that there was a lot of "bonding" among the recruits that visited the Knoxville last weekend.
"We just bonded at Tennessee," said Carter. "Everybody got along. There was a lot of laughing going on and just spending time with each other and I liked how everything went up there."
“I like the fanbase a lot," added Carter. "They like me. I like them. The coaching staff as well. I have a great relationship with every coach up there. I know their families. It’s great. I know if I go there I can put on a show. Home state, a lot of fans are gonna know me and give that extra, and I know a lot of the fans.”
Michigan and Colorado are also very much in the mix for Carter (he's set to take an official visit to Michigan next weekend). Tennessee, however, is still the overwhelming favorite to win this recruiting battle.
If Carter commits to the Vols, he'll likely play on the defensive side of the ball as a defensive back, though he could also play running back or wide receiver.
Tennessee currently has the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation.
