Lane Kiffin’s son Knox, a 2028 QB recruit, has an under-the-radar connection to the Tennessee Vols that doesn’t involve his dad
2028 quarterback recruit Knox Kiffin is the son of former Tennessee Vols and current Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin.
2028 quarterback Knox Kiffin, the son of Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin, is still in the early stages of his recruitment.
Knox is already receiving some attention from big-time programs — he visited the Alabama Crimson Tide last weekend — but there’s still a long way to go before the young quarterback decides where he’ll be heading to college.
Knox Kiffin has a connection to a former Tennessee Vols coach from the Phillip Fulmer era
Knox, who was born in Knoxville in early 2009 when his dad was the head coach of the Tennessee Vols, currently plays high school football at Oxford.
The head coach at Oxford is Chris Cutcliffe, the son of former Vols offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe.
David Cutcliffe, who left Tennessee to become the head coach at Duke following the 2007 season, was also the head coach at Ole Miss from 1998 to 2004.
Chris Cutcliffe, meanwhile, graduated from Tennessee and served as a student manager for the football team (Chris left Tennessee after the 2008 season to join his dad at Duke, so he barely missed overlapping with Lane on Rocky Top).
College football might seem big, but it’s really a small world where almost everyone is connected in some way.
Knox, by the way, said last month that he isn’t planning to play for his dad in college.
“I’m definitely not going to play for my dad,” said Knox to On3. “I want to do my own stuff.”
We’ll see if Knox changes his mind when it’s time to make a final decision.
