Latest NFL Combine report fuels suspicion about possible landing spot in the NFL Draft for Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy
The former Vol’s visit list at the Combine includes a team he’s been tied to repeatedly in mock drafts.
Tennessee cornerback Jermod McCoy is in the spotlight in a big way this week at the 2026 NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
However, it’s not in the same way as most athletes in town this week who are looking to make a big name for themselves in front of all 32 teams’ executives and scouts ahead of the NFL Draft.
While many players will be looking to fly, leap, and lift their way up draft boards, McCoy will not be. McCoy noted on Wednesday that he will not be working out with teams, aiming instead for his Pro Day at Tennessee next month.
Still, this week is still a very important one for McCoy in his pre-draft process, as it gives teams a chance to meet with him and evaluate his medicals. McCoy tore his ACL last January and missed the entire 2025 season for the Tennessee Vols, so his status comes with significant uncertainty ahead of the draft.
That being said, McCoy has a meeting with a team on Wednesday that is particularly interesting: the Miami Dolphins.
The meeting with the Dolphins is notable because some draft pundits have tied McCoy and the Dolphins together at pick No. 11 in mock drafts.
Tennessee CB Jermod McCoy to meet with Miami Dolphins at the NFL Combine
The Dolphins certainly would make sense as a destination for McCoy at 11, if the Dolphins are convinced enough that he’s fully recovered from his knee injury and hasn’t lost a step after missing the entire 2025 season.
The Dolphins got good cornerback play last year from veterans Rasul Douglas and Jack Jones, but both are impending free agents, and both should have a market, particularly Douglas. And the Dolphins are in cap trouble entering the offseason, being $4.15 million over the cap as far as effective cap space, per Over The Cap, and having a looming decision pending with Tua Tagovailoa and his albatross of a contract.
As such, addressing the cornerback position in the draft could be a very logical one for the Dolphins. If McCoy can assuage concerns that general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan and his staff might have, then perhaps McCoy could be a serious candidate to hear his name called when the Dolphins are on the clock on April 23, when the 2026 NFL Draft gets underway in Pittsburgh.
