Latest policy from Deion Sanders may be bad news for former Tennessee Vols DB Boo Carter at Colorado
Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Boo Carter transferred to Colorado earlier this month.
Former Tennessee Vols defensive back Boo Carter committed to the Colorado Buffaloes earlier this month after entering the NCAA transfer portal.
Carter was dismissed from the Tennessee football team in November after failing to show up for the Vols’ homecoming game against New Mexico State.
“According to a source familiar with the situation, Carter didn’t show up at Neyland Stadium for the No. 23 Volunteers’ 42-9 victory against New Mexico State on Saturday,” reported ESPN’s Mark Schlabach in November. “The source told ESPN that Carter had been informed by the coaching staff that he wasn’t going to play against the Aggies because of disciplinary issues. But the coaches still expected Carter to attend the homecoming game and watch from the sideline.”
Carter’s dismissal came a couple of months after he failed to show up for various team activities over the summer, which angered some of Tennessee’s team leaders.
The events that led to Carter’s dismissal at Tennessee make Colorado head coach Deion Sanders’ latest policy particularly interesting in regards to the former Vol defensive back.
Deion Sanders introduces harsh new policy at Colorado
Sanders has apparently introduced a fine system at Colorado, much like what you’d see from a professional team.
No showing for a strength and conditioning workout, for example, is a $1,500 fine.
It’s unclear how enforceable the fines will be, but it’s an interesting concept with many players now earning anywhere from five to seven figures to play college football. I’m sure Sanders, though, is hoping that he won’t have to impose any fines.
But if Carter approaches this offseason at Colorado the same way he did last offseason at Tennessee, we may quickly find out whether Sanders is actually willing to fine his players.
