2024 linebacker Ryan Scott, 6-foot-1/205 lbs from Knoxville, TN (West High School), announced his commitment to the Tennessee Vols on Tuesday morning.
Scott received a preferred walk-on offer from Tennessee in December.
Scott was recently named the 5star Preps defensive player of the year. It was his second straight year winning the award. Ole Miss Rebels defensive lineman Walter Nolen won the award in 2021 after attending Powell High School.
Murray State, Illinois, and Wake Forest were the other programs Scott was considering.
The Vols have seen walk-on linebackers make an impact before. Colton Jumper, another Tennessee native, played important snaps for the Vols from 2015 to 2017 after initially joining the program as a walk-on.
