Josh Heupel has the Tennessee Vols in the mix for some of the top 2024 recruits in the nation.

It seems like every day there's a new five-star recruit speaking highly about the Vols or placing Tennessee in their top five.

Earlier this week, it was 2024 five-star edge rusher Dylan Stewart that showed some very public love for the Vols.

Stewart, 6-foot-5/240 lbs from Washington DC, is rated by On3 as the No. 1 overall player in the 2024 recruiting class.

The coveted defensive recruit has top-five NFL draft potential. Stewart can get after the quarterback or he can drop into coverage. The extremely athletic edge rusher can be a legitimate game-changer in the SEC.

On3 recently discussed Stewart's recruitment and they didn't mention the Vols at all. Instead, they pointed out that South Carolina and Miami are currently positioned best for the elite recruit.

Stewart, however, appears to like Tennessee to some extent. The nation's top recruit showed up to the On3 NIL Elite Series in Nashville this week wearing a Volunteers hoodie.

Who knows where Stewart will eventually land. On3's Chad Simmons suggested this week that there could be "multiple twists and turns" in the battle for Stewart. Perhaps this is one of those major twists.

Tennessee at least has Stewart's attention. Heupel and his staff need to do what it takes to get Stewart in Orange and White. He's the type of player the Vols need to add to their roster if they want to significantly improve their odds of competing for a national championship in the future.
