Kentucky Wildcats head coach Mark Stoops isn't a big fan of an obstacle that his team will face in Neyland Stadium on Saturday night against the Tennessee Vols.
During the weekly SEC coaches teleconference on Wednesday, Stoops sarcastically thanked the league for making Kentucky's matchup against Tennessee in Knoxville a night game.
"Thank you for that, that's a lot of fan," said a sarcastic Stoops.
Stoops is correct — this will be Kentucky's fourth straight game that starts at 7:45 PM ET (which usually ends up being closer to an 8:00 PM ET kick off). Two of those games, however, were at home for Kentucky (the Wildcats played Florida in Gainesville….games against Auburn and Vanderbilt were played in Lexington). The Wildcats lost all three of those games.
It should be a rocking crowd in Neyland on Saturday night. Halloween vibes will be in the air and the Volunteers will be wearing their "dark mode uniforms". The last time Kentucky visited Neyland Stadium (in 2022) was under similar circumstances. And the Vols won in blowout fashion, ending the night with a 44-6 win.
The crowds at Neyland are consistently electric these days regardless of the start time, but there's no doubt that Vols fans will have a little extra juice on Saturday night when Kentucky comes to town.
The secret to quickly unlocking Nico Iamaleava’s talent has been discovered, but Tennessee might not be willing to do it
Kinda a catch 22 for the Vols
