If you're a Tennessee Vols fan who stayed awake for the end of the Detroit Lions' win against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday Night Football, you witnessed a pretty cool moment for UT football fans.
Late in the fourth quarter, with the 49ers trailing by 12, former Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs was inserted into the game to replace starter Brock Purdy (Purdy left the game to get his elbow checked out).
Dobbs' first pass was a 15 yard completion to former Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings.
It was the first pass that Dobbs had completed to Jennings since Tennessee's win against Nebraska in the 2016 Music City Bowl.
Making the moment even more special for Vols fans was the fact that former Tennessee linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin was the Lions player who tackled Jennings.
Dobbs, Jennings, and Reeves-Maybin played alongside each other at Tennessee in 2015 and 2016 (Dobbs and Reeves-Maybin played together in Knoxville from 2013 to 2016 while Jennings was at UT from 2015 to 2019).
Dobbs finished off the drive with an impressive touchdown run to bring the 49ers within six points of the Lions (Detroit would go on to win 40-34).
Not only is it pretty cool for Vols fans to see Dobbs, Jennings, and Reeves-Maybin involved in the same play on Monday Night Football, it's also a reminder that those three players have combined for lengthy NFL careers.
