On Sunday morning, after a wild Saturday of college football, On3 made their predictions for how the new AP Top 25 poll will look and they have the Tennessee Vols taking a tumble despite their win against the Florida Gators.

Tennessee entered the week as the No. 8 team in the nation. On3's Jesse Simonton has the Vols falling to No. 11 after the Vols' overtime win against Florida. He has Iowa State, Clemson, and LSU jumping Tennessee.

From On3: Josh Heupel better get back into the lab this week after Tennessee’s offensive doldrums nearly led to another embarrassing loss as a two-touchdown. But the Vols were able to win this Saturday, rallying to beat Florida 23-17 in overtime in a game mired by self-inflicted mistakes by both teams. Nico Iamaleava struggled for the third straight game (16 of 29 for 169 yards with a pick and red zone fumble), as tailback Dylan Sampson again carried the load (27 rushes for 119 yards and three scores) for Big Orange.

Tennessee was fortunate that Florida kept shooting itself in the foot with a fumble at the 1-yard line, penalties that wiped off points and a missed field goal.

What an absurd projection/take. Tennessee beat Florida, something that has rarely happened in the last 20 years.

The Vols didn't play well and they found a way to win. Yet all you'll see in the reasoning for dropping Tennessee is a bunch of negativity about what went wrong for the Vols and how Florida's mistakes are why UT won the game (which completely ignores the fact that Tennessee's mistakes, specifically penalties, are why Florida was in the game).

It's a weird take and an even more bizarre projection. Tennessee doesn't deserve to move up in the polls, but they certainly don't deserve to fall in the polls after a win, either. Dropping Tennessee below Clemson after the Tigers beat a not-good-at-all Wake Forest team is one of the stranger college football takes I've seen. But at this point, it's hard to be surprised by some of the weird takes we see from the national media.
