National recruiting insider doesn’t sound optimistic about the Tennessee Vols landing 2027 5-star RB David Gabriel Georges
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges is one of the Tennessee Vols’ top recruiting targets.
The Tennessee Vols’ top 2027 recruiting target is easily five-star running back David Gabriel Georges.
Gabriel Georges, 6-foot, 205 pounds from Chattanooga, TN (by way of Quebec), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 running back in the nation and the No. 14 overall player in the 2027 recruiting class.
The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Georgia Bulldogs are viewed as the Vols’ top competition for the five-star running back.
National recruiting insider doesn’t sound optimistic about the Vols landing David Gabriel Georges
On3 national recruiting insider Steve Wiltfong reiterated on Monday that he likes Ohio State for Gabriel Georges.
“I still like my Rivals Industry prediction in favor of the Buckeyes for five-star running back David Gabriel Georges….and I do believe Ohio State will push the chips in necessary to get this one done on the NIL front when that time comes,” wrote Wiltfong. “That’s how coveted he is.”
There’s still a long way to go in Gabriel Georges’ recruitment, so nothing has been decided yet. But it’s not a surprise that Ohio State will be tough to beat for the talented running back.
Tennessee, however, has put its best foot forward in this battle.
“As good a position as you can be in at this point for a recruitment that is several months out from having a decision,” said VolQuest’s Austin Price last month of where the Vols stand for Gabriel Georges. “Tennessee and Ohio State — I know he lowered it to eight — but it’s really those top two teams. We’ll see if somebody else can get involved. It does not feel that way as of right now. It feels like those two teams are destined to battle it out until a decision is made sometime in the spring or summer.”
Gabriel Georges took two unofficial visits to Tennessee this past season. The next few months will be critical for the Vols in this recruiting battle.
