There's been plenty of speculation in recent weeks that the New England Patriots could trade quarterback Joe Milton this offseason.

Milton, a former Tennessee Vols standout who was selected by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, is drawing trade interest thanks to his strong performance in his lone start as a rookie last season.

The former Tennessee quarterback passed for 241 yards while passing for a touchdown and running for a touchdown in New England's win against the Buffalo Bills in the regular season finale.

Recent reports have indicated that the Patriots are expected to ask for a day two pick for Milton.

ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler suggested this week on NFL Live that the Dallas Cowboys are a "team to watch" in a potential deal for Milton.

"Joe Milton, this is a really interesting name in this quarterback carousel we're talking about because he has trade interest," said Fowler . "The Patriots are exploring a trade. I'm told several teams are interested. One team to potentially watch for is the Dallas Cowboys because they are looking for a good backup, a young backup with upside they may not get in the draft, maybe they get in a trade."

The Patriots recently signed veteran quarterback Josh Dobbs, who is also a former Tennessee standout, to a two-year deal. The expectation is that Dobbs will serve as the primary backup to starting quarterback Drake Maye.

The addition of Dobbs seemingly makes it more likely that New England will trade Milton this offseason.

I wouldn't expect the Patriots, however, to be in a hurry to move Milton. This could be a situation where if a team isn't willing to match the Patriots' asking price, then New England could hold on to Milton through the summer with the hopes of showcasing the former Vol's talent during NFL preseason games.
