Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel has the perfect opportunity this week to show some love to a Vol legend and to his favorite NFL team from his childhood.
On Tuesday, the Arizona Cardinals traded former Tennessee quarterback Josh Dobbs to the Minnesota Vikings.
The Vikings were in need of a quarterback after Kirk Cousins suffered a torn Achilles tendon this past weekend.
It's the second time that Dobbs has been traded in the last two months. Just before the start of the 2023 season, the former Vol was traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Cardinals.
Dobbs started the first eight games of the season for Arizona.
Heupel, who grew up in South Dakota, was a Vikings fan as a kid. Which is why I think it would be pretty cool for the Tennessee head coach to show up to his press conference on Thursday in a Dobbs/Vikings jersey (surely someone at UT can make that happen over the next two days).
Heupel actually referenced his connection to Minneapolis on Monday while speaking with reporters.
"I grew up a fan of a lot of major colleges, NFL and professional sports," said Heupel. "I had an opportunity to meet a lot of those people. My uncle lived in the twin cities, and he took me to a lot of those events."
It would be pretty awesome to see Heupel rock a Dobbs/Vikings jersey. Someone at Tennessee's gotta make it happen.

It’s always a weird vibe at Kentucky
