Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban spoke to reporters on Monday and he was asked about quarterback Bryce Young's injury status.

Young didn't play for Alabama in the Tide's 24-20 win this past weekend against Texas A&M as he's dealing with a shoulder injury.

Freshman Jalen Milroe got the start against the Aggies and he'd likely start again against the Tennessee Vols this upcoming Saturday if Young can't go.

Milroe passed for 111 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception in the win against Texas A&M. He also rushed for 83 yards.

Saban said on Monday that Young's status for the Tennessee game is still to be determined.

“Bryce is getting re-evaluated today,” said Saban on Monday. “I don’t really know much, I haven’t really talked to the doc since he did that. Hopefully, we’re going to try to get him ready to play this week. But this is something that nobody can predict how quickly this is going to give him an opportunity to be able to go out and do what he needs to do, and we’ll see as the week progresses. But I don’t have an update much more than that.”

My gut feeling is that Young will play. This is one of the toughest games left on Alabama's schedule. If they lose this game, it'll make their path to the College Football Playoff significantly tougher — especially with a game against Ole Miss left, plus the SEC Championship game (if they win the SEC West).

If Milroe starts, this game will dramatically tip in Tennessee's favor, which is why I think they'll do all they can to get Young ready.

Alabama, however, could be hesitant to start a less than 100 percent Young. If they play him and he gets hurt and ends up missing the rest of the season, Alabama can kiss their title hopes goodbye.

We'll keep an eye on Young's status as the week progresses.
