Tennessee Vols true freshman offensive tackle David Sanders Jr. was “overly hurt” to see one of his teammates enter the NCAA transfer portal this week.

Sanders took to social media to react to Vols EDGE Caleb Herring’s decision to leave Tennessee, writing “Overly hurt, go be great twin” on his Instagram story.

Herring’s decision to enter the transfer portal coincides with the news that his position coach, outside linebackers coach LeVorn Harbin, isn’t returning to Tennessee in 2026.

As for Sanders’ post, there’s no doubt that it can be tough and emotional to see teammates transfer. But that’s the world of college football. And you can’t blame Herring for making the decision that he feels is best for himself.
