After taking a quarterback with the No. 3 overall pick, many might think it was crazy for the New England Patriots to consider taking another one in the later rounds.

But they did just that, drafted Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III with the 193rd pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

And it's a move that was unexpected, but is certainly not unwelcome.

Milton is known for his insane arm strength. I mean, there is a viral video of throwing an orange an insane distance that proves just that. And he even said he has the ability to throw it farther.

So he's going to New England and joining another rookie quarterback who is also known for his arm strength. It provides Maye with someone he can relate to in the room as the two navigate the NFL together.

And with that, Maye is coming in with limited experience, which many considered to be a potential red flag coming into the draft. But pairing him with Milton, who has plenty of experience at the collegiate level and knows how to be a leader in the locker room, will help Maye learn more.

Plus, you can't forget about Jacoby Brissett who has been in the Patriots system before and is the perfect veteran role model to help these two quarterbacks grow.

While there were some rumors that Milton could make the potential move to tight end, he cleared all that up on Saturday after getting drafted, saying that will never happen.

This new era in New England with Jerod Mayo leading the way after Bill Belichick departed after 24 season was bound to be exciting. And so far it's living up to that expectation.

Maye became the highest-selected pick since Drew Bledsoe who went No. 1 overall in 1993, and with the selection of Milton, this is the first time since 1983 that the Patriots drafted two quarterbacks in the same class.

And since it's Eliot Wolf calling the shots, this pick makes sense as it is something the Green Bay Packers have done.

So all in all, this was a great pick for the Patriots and could end up truly benefiting them in the long run. They now get someone who is extremely athletic to join Drake Maye and Jacoby Brissett, so training camp is certainly going to be fun to watch.

Let's get this thing started.
