Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning joined The Nation on Sunday evening and he was asked about the growth that he's seen from UT redshirt senior quarterback Joe Milton.
Manning quickly offered a strong endorsement of Milton while praising the work that the former Michigan quarterback has put in during the offseason.
The five-time NFL MVP also praised Milton's accuracy, which Manning saw in person at the Manning Passing Academy earlier this summer.
"I was impressed with his accuracy," said Manning when asked about Milton. "You know, obviously [at] the camp (Manning Passing Academy), they're coaching the high school kids, but in between practices, Eli (Manning) and I go out and watch the college quarterbacks throw. And certainly amongst a very impressive group of college quarterbacks, Joe's arm certainly stands out."
"But I was impressed with his accuracy, his footwork," added Manning. "I can tell he's worked on those things, I think he wants to be more than just the guy that can throw it so far down the field. Which is great, but we got to be able to complete those intermediate throws [and] those touch passes over the middle. And I think Joe's really worked on that. And I think that's going to show up this year for sure. So I'm excited about him. He's got a great attitude."
Milton's accuracy is one of the biggest stories surrounding Tennessee ahead of the 2023 season. If the redshirt senior can prove to be more accurate than what he showed during his first two starts for the Vols in 2021, then Tennessee's goal of winning a national championship in 2023 could become a reality.
Milton has a lot to prove in 2023, but Tennessee fans should certainly feel confident that he'll rise to the occasion after hearing Manning's take on the Florida native.
