Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning celebrated his 50th birthday earlier this week, and also revealed his four favorite movies of all time.

Manning, who is known as a jokester with a great sense of humor, unsurprisingly picked four comedies from the 1980s — which is when he was coming of age.

The Sheriff went with some classics that feature comedy giants such as Bill Murray, Steve Martin, and Chevy Chase.

“Four favorite films? Vacation, Stripes, Caddyshack — I was a kid when that came out, but you watch them more as you get older — and The Jerk, an old school comedy,” said Peyton Manning. “I used to use quotes from those movies in football meetings just randomly. And I would say them, especially as I got older, and none of my teammates knew what I was saying — just complete crickets. I said, ‘Actually, this weekend, young players, you have to go watch these movies. That’s your playbook tonight, just so we can get on the same language in the football world.’

“As you know, it’s so serious — you got to have a way to laugh just to keep things even. And then you can also learn that maybe I shouldn’t take myself so seriously and [I should] laugh at myself.”

Considering Manning’s well-known comedic chops, it’s not surprising that he went with four movies that are guaranteed to make you laugh.

The former Vol may be football royalty, but he’s still a Gen-X kid at heart.
