It's no secret that the Tennessee Vols are in search of a quarterback and a wide receiver in the NCAA transfer portal during the spring window.
The Vols, however, are also looking to add some talent on the defensive side of the ball.
According to 247Sports' Matt Zenitz, Tennessee is set to receive a visit from Louisville transfer linebacker Darius Thomas.
247Sports rates Thomas as the No. 2 linebacker in the NCAA transfer portal.
Thomas, 6-foot-2/220 lbs, is a former three-star recruit from Hollywood, CA who started his career at Western Kentucky. He totaled 54 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and four sacks for Western Kentucky last season.
The Florida native started his career as a safety. Thomas converted to linebacker in 2024 after missing all of the 2023 season. He started every game for Western Kentucky in 2024.
Tennessee's top two linebackers are Arion Carter and Jeremiah Telander. Linebacker isn't viewed as a huge position of need for the Vols, but the interest in Thomas could be a sign that Tennessee feels they need another starting-caliber linebacker on the roster ahead of the 2025 season.
