Quote from Tennessee QB Joey Aguilar helps explain why Vols WR Chris Brazzell only had one catch against Arkansas
Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell has been on a tear this season, but he was essentially shut down in the win against the Arkansas Razorbacks
Tennessee Vols wide receiver Chris Brazzell has been one of the best players in college football this season, but he wasn’t much of a factor on Saturday in UT’s 34-31 win against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Brazzell caught 31 passes for 531 yards and seven touchdowns in the first five games of the season.
In the win against Arkansas on Saturday, however, Brazzell caught just one pass for five yards.

While Brazzell didn’t have a big game on Saturday, wide receiver Braylon Staley certainly did.
Staley led the Volunteers with six receptions for 109 yards.
Vols quarterback Joey Aguilar told reporters that part of the reason Brazzell wasn’t involved in the passing game is because he was often double-teamed by the Arkansas defense, which led to more opportunities for Staley.
“Today, they were trying to take Brazzell out of the game,” said Aguilar. “[Arkansas] was trying to double team him and play super soft (coverage). Braylon stepped up. When he got the ball, he produced pretty well.”
Brazzell may not have made a big impact in the box score, but his presence on the field helped open things up for some of his teammates, which helped the Vols get the win.
