The Tennessee Vols could be on the verge of landing another big time commit.

On3's Chad Simmons predicted this week that Tennessee will be the team that lands 2025 four-star defensive lineman Isaiah Campbell.

Simmons "called his shot" with "medium level confidence" for the Vols to land Campbell, who was previously committed to Clemson.

"Clemson is still in communication with Campbell, but North Carolina is viewed as Tennessee’s competition," wrote Simmons. "He still has an official visit to Chapel Hill in November, but the SEC program in Knoxville is going to be tough to beat."

Campbell, 6-foot-4/275 lbs from Durham, NC, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 5 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of North Carolina. He's also rated as the No. 39 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class (which means he's not far from being a five-star recruit).

Interestingly, Campbell attends the same high school (Southern) that former Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright attended. That connection should certainly help the Vols in this recruiting battle.

Scouting report via 247Sports: Moldable defensive lineman that can be deployed in a variety of different ways at the next level in both odd and even fronts. Size hasn’t been third-party verified in over a year, but looks to be north of 6-foot-3 with the room to eventually carry 285 pounds or more. Produced in a big way as a junior, racking up 110 tackles and 16 sacks as he used active hands to get off blocks. Adequate get-off at this stage and has the burst to dart laterally and make stops while in pursuit. Understands how to find leverage, but isn’t the most consistent edge setter and is likely going to need some technical refinement before he’s ready to be a full-time contributor on Saturdays. Overall, should be viewed as a scheme versatile point-of-attack defender that can slow down the run and add some value as a pass rusher. Could take a major step forward after a developmental year or two in a college strength program. Sunday upside if he can keep progressing.

Campbell took an official visit to Tennessee for the Vols' win against Alabama two weeks ago.

The four-star defensive lineman is set to take an official visit to Chapel Hill on November 16 for North Carolina's game against Wake Forest. I have a strong feeling that the Tar Heels' game against the Demon Deacons won't even come close to matching the atmosphere that Campbell saw in Knoxville a couple of weeks ago when Tennessee beat Alabama.
