2023 four-star tight end Ethan Davis, a Tennessee Vols commit, received some major praise this week from Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney.
Gorney pointed out several recruits who outperformed their recruiting ranking this past weekend at the OT7 7-on-7 event in Las Vegas and Davis was one of the names he mentioned.
From Rivals:
Davis looked like a million bucks. He’s tall and built out physically and can move for his size so it’s easy to see why Tennessee wanted him so badly and whyOle Missand others have been trying to flip him. The Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill recruit has great hands, can win 50-50 balls and put in the proper positions could be a huge asset in the Vols’ offense. The tight end class is loaded in 2023 but Davis deserves consideration to move up and might be the best-looking tight end in the class not namedDuce Robinson.
Davis, 6-foot-5/221 lbs from Suwanee, GA, is ranked in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 6 tight end in the nation and the No. 4 player in the state of Georgia. He's also rated as the No. 89 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.
The Georgia native, who also plays basketball, truly is a matchup nightmare. Davis has great athleticism, great hands, good speed, and he's an effective blocker.
Davis is essentially a dream come true for an offensive coordinator in the red zone. It's hard to see many teams successfully defending against Davis on a fade route or a jump ball to the corner of the end zone.
The Vols commit might just be the most underrated player in the 2023 recruiting class.
