The Tennessee Vols are suddenly in danger of losing a commit to the Florida Gators
The Tennessee Vols may be in danger of losing a three-star commit to the Florida Gators.
The Tennessee Vols may be in danger of losing a 2027 commit to the Florida Gators.
2027 three-star cornerback Kamauri Whitfield, 5-foot-11/185 pounds from Orlando, FL, has been committed to Tennessee since October, but the Gators gave him plenty to think about on a recent visit to Gainesville.
Kamauri Whitfield says Florida will get an official visit
Whitfield’s visit to Florida went well enough that he told On3 that the Gators will receive an official visit later this year.
The three-star Vols commit also told On3 that Florida is not too far away from Tennessee in his recruitment.
“This visit definitely helped Florida,” said Whitfield to On3. “They’re not too far away from Tennessee. I will be back at Florida, and they will definitely get an official visit.”
Whitfield is rated by 247Sports as the No. 36 cornerback in the nation and the No. 33 player in the state of Florida.
Recruiting is as fluid as ever. In fact, it’s understandable if fans aren’t excited by high school commitments anymore. After all, a significant number of high school players that sign with a school will land with another program by their second year in college.
So while Vols fans never want to see a commit flip to the Gators, it’s not the end of the world if Whitfield ends up landing with Florida.
