One of the Tennessee Vols' top 2025 recruiting targets was in Knoxville this past weekend for UT's 38-10 loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.
2025 five-star quarterback George MacIntyre, who is also considering Alabama and LSU, took an unofficial visit to Tennessee on Saturday, his second visit to UT this season (he also visited for the South Carolina game).
After that visit, On3's Chad Simmons said he's slighting leaning toward Tennessee for MacIntyre. Simmons noted, however, that Alabama is "definitely a strong contender" for the five-star quarterback.
"I may slightly lean toward Tennessee coming off this last trip….but I think Alabama and Tennessee have a slight edge over LSU," said Simmons.
MacIntyre could visit LSU again before making his decision, so there's still a chance for the Tigers to vault to the front of this recruiting battle (LSU's offensive success this season certainly doesn't hurt their chances).
Simmons' update isn't enough to have Vols fans feeling overly confident about landing MacIntyre, but it at least sounds like Tennessee has a legitimate shot to land a commitment from the talented quarterback in the next couple of months (which is when he's expected to commit).
MacIntyre, 6-foot-5/182 lbs from Brentwood, TN, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 2 quarterback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Tennessee. He's also rated as the No. 10 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
If Josh Heupel and the Vols can land MacIntyre, it would give Tennessee three straight recruiting classes with an elite quarterback (Nico Iamaleava in 2023 and Jake Merklinger, who can sign next month, in 2024).

Not gonna be an easy for Josh Heupel
