The Tennessee Vols seemingly received some great recruiting news on Wednesday when four-star wide receiver Legend Bey flipped his commitment from the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Bey was previously committed to Tennessee before flipping to Ohio State in November.

The Vols announced Bey’s signing shortly before Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with reporters on Wednesday.

A report from 247Sports on Wednesday suggested that Bey flipped his commitment because his mom wouldn’t sign off on the four-star wide receiver’s national letter of intent with the Buckeyes.

Bey tweeted and then deleted a message on Thursday that hinted at dysfunction with his mom and unhappiness with the decision to sign with Tennessee.

247Sports’ Mike Roach reported on Thursday that Bey is “unhappy” with the decision to sign with Tennessee and will seek to find a way out of his national letter of intent with the Vols.

“Sources told 247Sports Wednesday evening that Bey was unhappy with the decision and would seek a path to be released from Tennessee and end up at Ohio State,” wrote Roach. “We were told that this would likely play out in three weeks when Bey turns 18 years old on Christmas Eve, but Bey decided to communicate his unrest Thursday.”

If Bey isn’t granted a release by Tennessee, he could enter the NCAA transfer portal in January.

Roach, however, reported that Tennessee would likely “not be opposed to releasing him from his paperwork.”

We’ll see how this crazy saga plays out in the coming days/weeks. But for now, it sounds like it’s far from a guarantee that Bey will be wearing orange next fall.
