One of the Tennessee Vols' biggest remaining 2026 recruiting targets is five-star running back Savion Hiter.

Hiter, 5-foot-11/200 lbs from Mineral, VA, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 running back in the nation and the No. 17 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class.

Michigan and Tennessee are viewed by some analysts as the top two schools for Hiter, though Georgia and Ohio State are also threats to land the coveted running back

Hiter, who is expected to commit to a program in July or August, will take an official visit to Tennessee this upcoming weekend.

According to On3's Pete Nakos, the Vols will make their final financial pitch to Hiter during that visit.

NIL money is obviously going to play a role in Hiter's decision. According to Nakos, Hiter is expected to receive an NIL deal that will pay him between $600,000 and $800,000 as a true freshman.

Will Tennessee be willing to give Hiter that much?

It's hard to know for sure. But it's worth noting that On3's Steve Wiltfong pointed out that Michigan and Tennessee are the two programs he believes will take this recruitment up another level from an NIL standpoint.

"I still think it's Michigan and Tennessee when [it's] all said and done," said Wiltfong earlier this month. "Those are the programs I'm watching the most right now. I think they're the programs that will take that recruitment up another level from an NIL standpoint, if they have to, to land one of the most coveted players on their board, respectively."

It seems like Tennessee really wants Hiter (and they should — he looks like a future stud). Whether they like him enough to offer him nearly $1 million as a true freshman remains to be seen. But based on Wiltfong's intel, it sounds like there's a good chance the Vols will consider going that high.
