The Auburn Tigers are reportedly working to steal a commit from the Tennessee Vols.
According to On3's Chad Simmons, 2025 three-star defensive lineman Darrion Smith is expected to visit Auburn later this month.
Smith has been committed to Tennessee since late July.
"Defensive line is still a need (for Auburn)," noted Simmons. "Tennessee commit Darrion Smith is planning to visit Auburn later this month. The Tigers have two of Smith’s teammates at Baltimore St. Frances Academy committed."
Smith, 6-foot-2/265 lbs from Baltimore, MD, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 12 player in the state of Maryland and the No. 42 defensive lineman in the nation.
According to Auburn Live, Smith will take his official visit to Auburn on November 23 for the Tigers' game against the Texas A&M Aggies. A couple of Smith's high school teammates who are committed to Auburn will be joining him on the trip.
"We have not heard anything pointing toward his commitment to Tennessee being shaky, but rather, that Auburn is surging in this recruitment," noted Auburn Live's Cole Pinkston on Tuesday. "Assuming the visit goes well, the Tigers have a chance to seize some momentum in this recruitment."
It sounds like this is a recruiting battle that could go down to the wire.
