Texas A&M Aggies head coach Mike Elko appeared to reference Tennessee Vols head coach Josh Heupel this week while answering a question about officiating.
Elko was asked earlier this week about the fact that Texas A&M's opponents haven't been called for an accepted holding penalty since late September.
"Somebody did this recently in a press conference, so I'll try this," said Elko. "Did you see any holds Saturday night?"
Heupel took a similar approach a couple of weeks ago after Tennessee's loss to Georgia — a game that included more than a couple of questionable calls.
After the loss to Georgia, Heupel asked a reporter what a blown facemask call looked like to him. Heupel then turned the microphone toward the reporter so his answer could be heard.
That's a brilliant way to criticize officiating without risking a fine.
I guess Heupel is officially a trendsetter now.
