Last Saturday, after college football action for the day had wrapped up, several SEC Network hosts/analysts revealed their top five teams in the conference.

Dari Nowkhah didn’t have the Tennessee Vols in his top five after UT’s 44-41 overtime loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

After reflecting on it for a few days, Nowkhah decided to move Tennessee into his top five.

Nowkhah now has the Vols at No. 4 in his SEC power rankings.

Host Alyssa Lang also has Tennessee in her top five, ranking the Vols at No. 2.

Benjamin Watson, a former Georgia tight end, has Tennessee at No. 4.

Chris Doering, a former Florida Gators wide receiver, has the Vols at No. 6.

Why Dari Nowkah moved the Tennessee Vols up in his rankings

“Initially, with our gut instinct Power Rankings on SEC Football Final [on] Saturday night, I didn’t have Tennessee in my top five,” said Nowkhah. “However, upon further review, they belong there. They had every opportunity to beat Georgia. They are a very good team.”

Tennessee didn’t leave Neyland Stadium with a win last Saturday, but they showed everyone that they can play with the top competition in the nation.

Everyone, including Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, left that game knowing that Tennessee should’ve won.

Unfortunately for the Vols, the game-winning kick sailed wide right. That missed kick, however, didn’t erase the Vols’ performance during the previous 59 minutes of game action. The Vols certainly proved they belong in the College Football Playoff conversation with the way they played against the Bulldogs.
