Wide receiver isn’t one of the Tennessee Vols’ top transfer needs this offseason, but an SEC transfer wide receiver is reportedly planning to visit Rocky Top.

According to CBS Sports college football insider Matt Zenitz, LSU Tigers transfer wide receiver Jelani Watkins is planning to visit Tennessee.

Watkins, who has three seasons of eligibility remaining, is also planning to visit USC and TCU.

Jelani Watkins is a former 4-star recruit from Louisiana

Watkins, 5-10, 162 pounds from LaPlace, LA, is a former four-star recruit who signed with LSU during the 2024 recruiting cycle. He was rated by 247Sports as the No. 23 wide receiver in the nation.

The speedy wide receiver (Watkins also ran track at LSU) wasn’t very productive during his two seasons with the Tigers, catching just two passes for 21 yards.

Tennessee wasn’t expected to pursue a wide receiver in the transfer portal, though it’s possible the Vols are just looking to add some depth with Chris Brazzell off to the NFL and Amari Jefferson hitting the transfer portal.

We’ll see if Watkins actually makes it to Tennessee for a visit.
