After taking down Florida and Alabama on Friday, the Lady Vols softball team defeated South Carolina on Saturday to claim the 2023 SEC Tournament title.
It's the Lady Vols' third SEC Tournament championship and their first since 2011.
The Lady Vols also won the regular season SEC title this year. It's the first time in program history that Tennessee has won the regular season title and the SEC Tournament in the same season.
After the Lady Vols' win on Saturday, South Carolina basketball coach Dawn Staley, who was at the game, sent a classy message to Tennessee's softball team.
"Congrats Vol softball on your SEC Championship," wrote Staley. "You all played like champions all tourney. Best to you in College World Series!"
This isn't the first time this year that Staley's had positive things to say about Tennessee.
Earlier this year, Staley spoke about legendary Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt and the impact she made on the game.
"If you've been in the game long enough, she's impacted you, whether that's losing to them or her just being around on the recruiting trail and imparting knowledge and information to grow the game," said Staley in January. "We must continue to pay homage to the disease that took her life, and also just her legacy because she's meant so much to our game. There won't be another Pat Summitt, ever."
As for the Lady Vols softball team, they'll learn their NCAA Tournament plans on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM ET during the selection show on ESPN 2.
