The Tennessee Vols are set to host the South Carolina Gamecocks on Saturday night in Neyland Stadium.

Tennessee is looking for some revenge after their 25 point loss to the Gamecocks last November (which ended the Vols' College Football Playoff hopes).

It won't be easy on Saturday night — South Carolina's offense could be in for a big day against the Vols' much-criticized secondary.

One area, however, where Tennessee has a clear advantage is in the trenches — specifically on the defensive side of the ball (Tennessee is tied for third in the nation in sacks and they're tied for third in tackles for loss).

Tennessee's defensive line has been playing at a high level this season while South Carolina's offensive line has struggled.

On Tuesday, Gamecocks offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo, a Yale transfer who joined South Carolina after the 2022 season, was asked about UT's defensive line.

"They have really good D-tackles, they have really good D-ends," said Gargiulo. "Their linebackers are really good as well. Probably the best front we're going to face all year. Actually hold on let me backtrack that statement — the best front we've played all year. And we just gotta go prepare and execute our game plan."

South Carolina played Georgia two weeks ago, so this is quite a compliment from Gargiulo, who is playing against both teams this season for the first time in his career.

The Bulldogs totaled three sacks in their 24-14 win against South Carolina earlier this month. Tennessee will likely need to eclipse that total on Saturday night if they're going to leave Neyland with a win against the Gamecocks.
