2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, a Tennessee Vols commit since last October, is one of the most hyped recruits in the nation.

Brandon, who is from Greensboro, NC, is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 overall player in the 2026 recruiting class. He already has a multi-year NIL deal with Leaf Trading Cards. He was the NCHSAA 4A state championship MVP this past December after guiding Grimsley High School to a state championship. And he was recently invited to the Elite 11 finals.

But despite all of the accolades (and NIL cash), Brandon isn't satisfied.

According to Daryl Brown, Brandon's coach at Grimsley, the future Vol is eager to take his game to another level.

The 6-foot-4 quarterback understands that he still has a lot of room for growth, and he's working hard to achieve that growth.

“Faizon just continues to get better,” said Brown earlier this month to the Greensboro News & Record. “He is not satisfied with where he is at. He continues to work and strive to perfect all of the little things that it takes to play the quarterback position. There is so much to it besides just throwing a football and he is open and willing to learn, be coached and he does a lot on his own, a lot here at school, obviously."

“I’m really just trying to keep my mechanics the same, get better being more comfortable in the pocket and just become a better leader for the team,” added Brandon.

There's been a lot of negativity surrounding the Tennessee football program over the last week thanks to quarterback Nico Iamaleava's surprising departure from the Vols.

Brown's comments about Brandon, however, are a reminder that Tennessee has an elite quarterback talent on the way.
