‘I think they were being a little bit unfair at Tennessee’ – Diego Pavia speaks on controversy from Vanderbilt’s win over the Vols
Diego Pavia’s family had a little bit too good of a time during the Vanderbilt Commodores’ win over the Tennessee Vols in Neyland Stadium.
The family of Vanderbilt Commodores quarterback Diego Pavia had a little bit too good of a time in Neyland Stadium last month.
One of Pavia’s brothers, Javier, was arrested during Vanderbilt’s win over the Tennessee Vols on November 29.
Javier was arrested on a public intoxication charge after he was reportedly warned multiple times to stop waving a large flag that was blocking the view of fans.
“(Javier Pavia) was also extremely verbally combative with event staff and myself,” read the police report.
According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, Javier pleaded not guilty to the charge on December 9
Diego Pavia comments on his brother getting arrested during Vanderbilt’s win over Tennessee
Pavia appeared on The Pivot this week and he addressed his brother getting arrested during the Tennessee game.
The Heisman Trophy finalist said he thinks what went down with his brother at Neyland Stadium was a “little bit unfair”.
“I think they were being a little bit unfair at Tennessee,” said Pavia of his brother’s arrest. “He was just waving his flag and they took him for intoxication. Everyone’s intoxicated in the damn arena — you know what I mean? But I’ve had that conversation with him. Sat him down. This is the only thing that I’ve told him as well. The only games that he was sober for was Alabama and Texas, and we’re 10-2.”
Pavia noted earlier in the podcast that scouts have questioned the behavior of his brothers.
“A scout came in and said, ‘What’s up with his brothers?’ And obviously, I don’t want it to affect me, and he [doesn’t] want it to affect me either,” said Pavia. “The first game is the one he got locked up at, and I was like, ‘Hey, I need you to, you know, stop.’”
Javier Pavia is scheduled to return to court on December 19 for a status hearing.
