The Tennessee Vols lost numerous key players to the transfer portal during the offseason.

Three of those players — running back Eric Gray, offensive lineman Wanya Morris, and defensive back Keyshawn Lawrence — ended up at Oklahoma together.

There's been plenty of speculation that there were some "shady" recruiting practices going on by the Sooners behind the scenes.

While there's no proof of Oklahoma doing anything against the rules (such as communicating with players before they're in the portal), it seems odd that three of UT's players transferred to the same program around the same time.

Gray, a Memphis native who played for two seasons at Tennessee, spoke to reporters in Norman last month and he was asked whether or not three former Vols landing at Oklahoma was planned.

"We all didn't even talk about it, it kind of just happened," said Gray.

"It was definitely not planned. It was a coincidence for everybody just to come here."

Later in the interview, Gray notes that he did actually talk to Morris about the Sooners before making his decision to transfer to Oklahoma.

"Wanya was the first one to commit, so I could talk to Wanya about his thoughts on it and what he thought," explained Gray.

Ultimately, it doesn't matter what happened behind the scenes. Those three players are gone from Tennessee.

But it's still interesting to hear Gray's perspective on how the "coincidental" transfers happened.
