Tennessee Vols right tackle Gerald Mincey, who transferred to UT from Florida before the 2022 season, didn't play on Saturday night in the loss to the Gators.

While Mincey didn't play, he traveled with the team to Florida.

Vols head coach Josh Heupel said after the game that Tennessee made the decision to go with Jeremiah Crawford over Mincey.

"Mincey, we just made a decision to go with JJ tonight," said Heupel after the loss to Florida.

On Sunday morning, Rocky Top Insider reported that Mincey, according to the UT Campus police crime log, was cited last week for simple possession.

It's unclear if that's why Mincey didn't play on Saturday night, though you can certainly draw your own conclusion there.

Mincey has been splitting reps with Crawford at right tackle after splitting reps with Crawford at left tackle last season.

Heupel will meet with the media again on Monday afternoon to preview Tennessee's game next Saturday against UTSA.
