Jauan Jennings had a great look at reaching a big career milestone in the San Francisco 49ers' season finale against the Arizona Cardinals.  Suddenly, it was gone in an instant.

Jennings got into a scuffle in the second quarter of the game with veteran cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting, and the ensuing scrap between the players led to Jennings being ejected.

Jennings, known by many Tennessee fans as "dog" or "dawg", is an intense and highly physical player.

The problem is Jennings was in a situation where he had to know better.  The play before, he was flagged after getting into an altercation with a different Cardinals defender and drawing an unsportsmanlike conduct flag.  One play later, he drew his second and an automatic ejection.

What makes it more frustrating is that the opportunity was clearly there for Jennings to reach the milestone.  He came into the game needing just 77 yards to reach the mark.  He had 7 catches for 52 yards in less than a half.  The odds say he easily would have reached that mark with a full game.

It's even more disappointing because it could be the last time that Tennessee fans will get to see two of their all-time favorites in Jennings and Josh Dobbs play together.  Dobbs drew the start with Brock Purdy out with an elbow injury, and he and Jennings didn't miss a beat in the first half.

Jennings will still finish his season with 975 yards, which is more than double his previous career high.  A huge step forward in his career for sure.

However, it's simply an unfortunate end to an otherwise great season. One that could have been avoided if Jennings hadn't had that dog in him.
