For Tennessee, it's been tough over the last 15 years to get wins over Alabama and Florida.  Josh Heupel delivered wins over both in the span of a month last year.

He managed to beat both of them in the same night on Monday.

Jordan Ross, a 4-star edge rusher from Birmingham, AL (Vestavia Hills) chose the Vols over Alabama, Florida, and Texas.

Ross gave onlookers in orange and white heart palpitations by grabbing and putting on a Florida hat before taking it off and definitively putting on the one with the Power T on the front.

"Coach Harbin, he made it feel like home," Ross told On3 Recruiting. "Me and him talked all the time, and it felt like home.  When I went on my [official visit], it just felt like home."

When asked about Coach Heupel's reaction, Ross pointed to the phone, as Heupel was on the line. "I mean, right now he seems pretty hyped," Ross said.

When asked about what he's going to bring to the Tennessee program, Ross was short, but sweet.  "I'm going to be a team leader.  I'm going to bring some aggression.  I can't wait to step on campus.

At 6'4", 215 pounds, Ross is a fast and athletic specimen off the edge.  He's reportedly been clocked at a sub-4.7 40 yard dash with a 35-inch vertical jump.  He totaled 16 tackles for loss last season, which earned him 7-A second-team all-state honors.

On3 recruiting service has Ross a 4-star recruit as the #34 overall player in the 2024 class, the #4 overall edge rusher, and the #5 player in the state of Alabama.  His commitment leapt Tennessee's 2024 class from ninth all the way up to sixth.  247 Sports has Ross as a 5-star recruit as the #12 overall prospect, #2 edge rusher, and #1 player in the state. Rivals has Ross as a 4-star recruit as the #81 overall prospect, #5 weakside defensive end, and #5 player in the state.

In other words, he's a big fish, and Heupel and his staff just landed him to add some major help to Tennessee's defense for the next three or four years.  It's a victory in recruiting that could help Tennessee see a lot more victories over their rivals on the field in years to come.
