Tennessee has a great quarterback situation for 2024 and beyond with the uber-talented Nico Iamaleava set to take over under center next fall.  However, recruiting is the lifeblood of any program and competition breeds success, so adding to the quarterback room is still important for the Vols.

Tennessee will have a great opportunity to try to do that this week, as it will reportedly host one of the most heralded prospects of the 2025 class on Saturday.

According to Chad Simmons of On3.com, George MacIntyre will be in Knoxville this weekend for the Vols' clash against Texas A&M.  The five-star quarterback out of Brentwood Academy is the #13 overall prospect, #2 QB, and #1 player in the state of Tennessee for 2025 per On3.com.  MacIntyre included the Vols as one of his ten finalists on Monday.

According to Evan Crowell of FanNation's Volunteer Country, Alabama has been making a hard push for the 6'5" 185-pound signal caller as a top priority of its 2025 class.  That matches up with On3.com's estimation, who list Alabama as the heavy frontrunner.

However, Tennessee will have a couple of chances this month to make a big impression.  The Vols face an opponent Saturday in Texas A&M whose name carries weight, and the crowd inside Neyland Stadium will once again be electric.

The following week, the Vols travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the Crimson Tide.  It's one thing to beat a team for the first time in a decade and a half, as the Vols finally did last year 52-49.  It's another to win back-to-back games and show that the gap between the two programs has shrunk sharply.  If the Vols want to truly compete regularly with Alabama for elite-level recruits, beating them on the field more often needs to happen.

Two weeks, two big opportunities for Josh Heupel to show the top recruit in Tennessee for 2025 that his best opportunity is in the Volunteer state.
