It seems as though the good works of Josh Heupel and Kelsey Pope have earned them a closer look from one of the top players of the 2026 class.
Five-star and #1 wideout Tristen Keys has set a spring visit for Tennessee among four reported by On3 Sports. Keys will visit Knoxville March 10.
The timing of the visit is good in that it's Keys first visit of the four. Heupel and Keys will get the first chance to convince the talented pass catcher out of Hattiesburg, Mississippi that he should continue his college career with the Big Orange.
Keys had previously told On3 Sports that he plans to take an official visit over the summer with Tennessee. Those are obviously very important. However, being able to get him on campus another time in March is big. It shows a significant interest on Keys' part.
There's no doubt the Vols need to infuse the roster with young talent at wideout, and the opportunity is there for an incoming freshman to earn his stripes early after the departure of a number of receivers last year – five to the portal (Kaleb Webb, Squirrel White, Chas Nimrod, Nate Spillman, and Nathan Leacock) and two key upperclassmen in Donte' Thornton, Jr. (declared for NFL Draft) and Bru McCoy (eligibility). Rising sophomores Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley will be expected to carry the load, along with Chris Brazzell II. Freshman Travis Smith will be worth keeping a close eye on as well.
Keys ranks as the #1 wide receiver, #1 player in the state of Mississippi, and the #5 overall player in On3 Sports' industry rankings.
