Earlier this offseason, the Tennessee Vols lost a commitment from three-star defensive back Shamar Arnoux.
At the time, Arnoux's decommitment wasn't viewed as a big loss for the Vols. Arnoux committed to Tennessee in early 2023 before decommitting this past February.
“I’m at a new school right now, I’m entering my senior year and the way college football is going right now I don’t want to limit my opportunities,” said Arnoux to Rivals.com of his decision to decommit from Tennessee.
Arnoux's stock has continued to trend up since his decommitment from the Vols — which isn't a surprise considering he's a long defensive back who plays physical and has been described as a "massive competitor".
According to a recent note from Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney, the Vols are still pursuing Arnoux.
"The Vols aren’t giving up on getting Arnoux back, though, as position coach Willie Martinez was out to see him this spring," wrote Gorney this week.
Arnoux, 6-foot-2/170 lbs from Carrollton, GA, is receiving interest from a bevy of schools, including Auburn and Georgia.
Tennessee, however, is still working to bring the highly competitive defensive back to Knoxville.
Maybe Arnoux will see what else is out there and realize that Tennessee was the right place all along. Or maybe he'll like what he sees at Auburn or one of the other programs pursuing him. Either way, the Georgia native appears to be destined to land in the SEC.
