Tennessee is set to receive a visit from an ‘elite QB’ in April, and there’s an expectation the Vols will extend an offer
The Tennessee Vols are always looking for elite quarterback recruits.
The Tennessee Vols are one of several programs that will receive a visit this spring from 2029 quarterback CJ Cypher.
Cypher, 6-foot-1/195 pounds from Carrollton, GA, hasn’t been rated yet by the major recruiting outlets, but he’s described by 247Sports’ Tom Loy as “a big-time prospect”.
“Cypher shows the early markers of a high‑ceiling modern quarterback, pairing a sturdy frame with advanced arm talent,” reads the 247Sports scouting report on Cypher. “His tape and evaluations highlight a quick, compact release, the ability to drive the ball to all levels, and the poise to operate both inside structure and on the move. Cypher most recently turned heads at the National Combine in San Antonio around the Navy All-American Bowl, where 247Sports named him the Offensive MVP following his stellar performance.”
CJ Cypher to visit the Tennessee Vols in April
According to 247Sports, Cypher will take a visit to Tennessee on April 10.
He’s also set to take visits to Florida, Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia this spring.
Loy noted that Tennessee hasn’t offered Cypher yet, but “that is expected to change once he arrives in Knoxville for the visit”.
“I have a little relationship with them, but I am very excited to build one with them,” said Cypher to 247Sports of his interest in the Vols. “I have also heard very good things about their staff and quarterback coaches.”
It’s obviously very early in Cypher’s recruitment. Tennessee, however, is doing its due diligence early in this recruiting battle to see if they’re a match for the talented young quarterback.
