Josh Heupel beat Billy Napier where it counts the most last year: on the field with a 23-17 overtime win in Knoxville back on October 12.
However, Napier managed to get a little bit back at his counterpart on Tuesday with a win off the field.
Per On3 Sports, Columbia, SC (Heathwood Hall Episcopal School) CB Onis Konanbanny flipped his commitment from Tennessee to Florida.
Konanbanny is only listed by On3 Sports as a 3-star prospect and the #42 cornerback. However, that didn't keep teams from having significant interest in him, as he holds a slew of offers from many marquee programs including Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Florida State, Oregon, USC, Auburn, Texas A&M, and Miami.
The Vols secured the commitment from Konanbanny back on August 23, four weeks after visiting Knoxville. However, he ultimately ended up visiting Florida in late November, and that ended up helping him change his mind. He'd been projected by multiple recruiting experts to end up at Florida since his visit, and on Tuesday, that prediction became a reality.
It's never great to lose a recruit, but at the end of the day, it's not a killer. In today's college football world, players move more than ever, and the opportunity will be there for Heupel to find someone else after the spring cycle that could help with the secondary.
All in all, a loss, but not one that will likely cost Heupel and his staff a whole lot of sleep.
