‘Tennessee just wasn’t going to go there’ – The Vols are unlikely to land the transfer QB that’s been connected to UT
The Tennessee Vols are searching for an affordable quarterback in the transfer portal.
The Tennessee Vols are in the market for a transfer quarterback, but one of the names that’s been connected to UT doesn’t appear to be a realistic option for the program.
Cincinnati transfer quarterback Brendan Sorsby has immediate family in Knoxville. When news broke that he was planning to enter the transfer portal, he was quickly connected to Tennessee.
But it sounds like Sorsby’s price tag is going to be too high for the Vols.
Vols insider dishes on Cincinnati transfer QB Brendan Sorsby
VolQuest’s Austin Price joined WNML’s Josh and Swain on Friday and he shared some thoughts on Sorsby and Tennessee.
Price noted that it sounds like Sorsby is likely heading to Texas Tech or LSU, before pointing out that his cost is probably too high for Tennessee.
“I think the price that was getting tossed around for him, Tennessee just wasn’t going to go there,” said Price. “Like, I mean, they weren’t going to pay $5 million for quarterback. They’ve already got a lot of money tied up in that room in George MacIntyre and Faizon Brandon. You’re weren’t gonna have $8 million tied up in three guys in the quarterback room. That just doesn’t make any sense. So, again, it’s about working your budget and going from there.”
Sorsby is a solid player and he would’ve been a great fit in Tennessee’s offense under Josh Heupel. But the Vols have to be smart with how they spend their budget — especially with Tennessee in need of numerous players on the defensive side of the ball.
