Some Tennessee Vols fans have expressed concern over the last few days about the morale surrounding the UT football program after their recent loss to Florida.

How will the team respond after a deflating performance? Is everyone still all in? Is the energy in the right place?

The only way to truly answer those questions is with the scoreboard. If the Vols turn their season around and start putting up offensive numbers like they did last season, those questions will go away.

Josh Heupel details the energy in practice after Tennessee's loss to Florida

Vols head coach Josh Heupel was asked on Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference about the energy in practice this week after the loss to Florida.

Heupel noted that that competitiveness and physicality in practice has been good for Tennessee this week as they prepare for a home game against UTSA.

“Good competitiveness, been physical," said Heupel. "There’s been strain, so I like all of that. We gotta continue to take ownership of the things that we can control — in particular on the offensive side of the ball. You look at just the penalties from a week ago and even some the previous week, the efficiency and how we’ve hurt ourselves. You can’t do that in college football. You know, put yourself in position to play the way that you need to to help your football team win a football game. We continue to work on that. We always have. We pinpoint those things and point them out every day and place importance on them."

"At the end of the day, a week ago, I thought we let one play affect the next a little bit and as a competitor you can’t do that," added Heupel. "That’ll show up and be important in this football game, too.”

The loss to Florida put a real damper on Tennessee's goal of winning the SEC East this season. But that goal is still very much in reach, though it'll be a bit more difficult to reach thanks to the loss to the Gators.

Tennessee, however, has to find a way to flush the loss to Florida. They can't let the loss in the Swamp haunt them this weekend in Neyland.
