On Monday, Off the Hook Sports' Dave Hooker reported that the Tennessee Vols held a players-only team meeting after UT's 17-point win against Austin Peay.

According to Hooker, the meeting took place on Sunday.

On Tuesday, Vols senior defensive lineman Omari Thomas was asked about the team meeting and he confirmed that it did happen.

"We did have one and what we talked about in there, we just talked about how we just got to continue to approach the week," explained Thomas. "We can't change our preparation. It's a big game — first SEC game of the year. It's a rivalry game. We just didn't need to change what we do. We are approaching the day like we do any other day. Just come in, have fun, ready to work. And that was really the main thing. Just continuing to grow together. And to have that players meeting, it was a great meeting for us honestly, just because it allowed everybody to see that we all still [are on] the same page. Flush the game that happened and let's continue to work this week."

There shouldn't be any concerns about Tennessee's leadership after hearing about the players only meeting this week.

These types of meetings can be common. And word of these meetings doesn't always make its way to the media. But even though these meetings happen from time to time during the course of a season, it's still a great sign that Tennessee's team leaders made the effort to make sure everyone is on the same page after the outside noise ramped up a bit due to a lackluster game against Austin Peay.

I'd look for the Vols to respond in a big way after an "off week" (by their standards) as they head to Florida for an important showdown with the Gators.
