The Tennessee Vols are regrouping this week after a tough road loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks this past weekend.
Tennessee is set to take on the Florida Gators in Knoxville on Saturday night as they hope to erase the bad taste in their mouth from their trip to Fayetteville.
On Monday, Vols tight end Miles Kitselman spoke to reporters and he was asked about quarterback Nico Iamaleava's mindset after the loss.
"As you can imagine, Nico is pretty torn up," said Kistelman. "You know, trying to put a lot of blame on himself. I put a lot of blame on myself as well there at the end of the game. The biggest thing is keeping each other up, being positive, trying to learn from the mistakes that we had.
"Nico coming in today and spending a lot of time in the film room, a lot of time in the treatment room trying to get back and stay healthy. Just trying to take that next step in being a leader."
There's no doubt that Iamaleava's care factor is high. And I'm sure no one is more distraught over the Vols' loss than him.
But the most important thing that Iamaleava and his teammates can do this week is to learn from the loss to Arkansas and then leave it in the rear view mirror. No amount of agonizing over the loss or what could've been done differently will change the outcome. But if Tennessee's players learn from the mistakes that were made in that game, they can prevent similar outcomes in the future. And that's the most important task at hand right now for the Vols.
Lamenting the loss to Arkansas is nothing but a waste of time for anyone wearing orange. And Tennessee doesn't have time to waste — they've gotta get ready for a huge showdown with Florida on Saturday night in what is essentially a must-win game for the Volunteers.
