The Tennessee Vols may have some work to do if they’re going to hang on to a 2027 four-star commit.

2027 four-star defensive lineman Kaden Fife has been committed to Tennessee since November.

Fife, however, is reportedly planning to check out other programs this spring.

Kadin Fife is reevaluating his recruitment

Fife, 6-foot-4/290 pounds from Summerville, GA, is rated in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 36 defensive lineman in the nation and the No. 39 player in the state of Georgia.

According to On3’s Chad Simmons, the defensive staff changes that Tennessee made this offseason — the Vols hired Jim Knowles to replace Tim Banks as the program’s defensive coordinator — have “reopened evaluation mode” for Fife.

“Defensive staff changes have reopened evaluation mode for the four-star standout from Chattooga (high school),” noted Simmons.

According to Simmons, Georgia, Auburn, Texas, and Georgia Tech are set to to receive visits from Fife this spring.

Fife is also scheduled to take an official visit to Tennessee.

Of the schools that Fife plans to visit, it’s Georgia Tech and Georgia that loom as the biggest threats to Tennessee in this recruiting battle.

“The Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets have positioned themselves firmly in the mix as his recruitment regains momentum,” wrote Simmons.

One thing working in Tennessee’s favor is that defensive line coach Rodney Garner, who is listed as Fife’s primary recruiter, was retained by Knowles, so it’s not like the four-star recruit has to get to know a new position coach.

We’ll have a better idea of where this recruitment is trending once Fife takes his spring visits.

The Vols currently have four players committed to their 2027 recruiting class. Fife, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings, is Tennessee’s second highest rated 2027 commit.
