The Tennessee Vols are one of five programs still in the mix for 2025 four-star wide receiver Donovan Murph.
Murph, who plans to announce his commitment on January 2 Under Armour All-America Game in Deland, FL, was originally a member of the 2026 recruiting class, but he reclassified to become part of the 2025 class.
According to On3, Clemson, Colorado, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Tennessee are Murph's top five schools.
Murph, 6-foot-2/188 lbs from Columbia, SC, is rated in 247Sports' composite rankings as the No. 30 wide receiver in the nation and the No. 6 player in the state of South Carolina.
South Carolina and Clemson, the two in-state programs in this recruiting battle, are viewed as the favorites for Murph (with South Carolina believed to be in the lead).
It seems unlikely that Tennessee will be able to convince Murph to commit to the Vols before January 2, but it's still wise of the UT coaching staff to put their best foot forward in this battle. After all, you never know when a player may hit the transfer portal down the road, which makes the relationships built during the high school recruiting process all the more important.
Tennessee's 2025 recruiting class, which has 25 signees, is currently ranked No. 11 in the nation.
